About Us

It was in April 14, 2016 when a mg. 7.8 earthquake engulfed the City of Aso in Kumamoto prefecture. No foods for days as in we're secluded from the rest of the world. We just relied on what the soldiers from helicopter would bring us for the day because main roads were not passable due to landslides, many bridges were broken down and only after days of candle lighting electricity was restored. It was the darkest and very sad moments to remember.
So, nearby the famous Aso Shrine which is considered as one of the tourist spot that people from all walks of life come to visit and as a part of the once lively, lovely town it was, I decided to open a small Italian restaurant which is my pride and confident because I had a great mentor when I apprenticed in Italy some years ago. At first people would wonder why in the middle of chaos I will start up a business?
For me, it was a way to pacify, at least forget what's happening around because I believe in Japanese saying ; Nanakorobi, yaoki means "Falls down seven times, stands up eight". People started to come to have a chat, feel relaxed, having someone to talked to is a lot, feeling not alone and noticed made everyone not lost. There the journey of La Luce began and the rest is history.
